Not In Our Town (NIOT) / The Working Group (TWG) is excited to introduce our new Executive Director, Harold Leffall. An Oakland native, Leffall brings more than 20 years of experience developing innovative programs in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors.
"I am honored and humbled to be a part of such an important organization at this critical time in our nation," Leffall said about joining NIOT. "I am in awe and inspired by the tremendously talented NIOT staff, Board, and courageous leaders in communities across the country who continue to take a stand for justice."
Leffall has held executive leadership positions with United Way of Greater Atlanta, a nonprofit focused on assisting individuals transitioning from homelessness, and most recently with Solomon's Temple Foundation, a human service agency for homeless women with children.
Also an entrepreneur, Leffall has successfully founded and operated two businesses: Leffall Employment Agency and First Step Staffing. Leffall Employment Agency, a multi-million dollar firm in Oakland, was recognized in Entrepreneur Magazine and Black Enterprise.
"Harold brings a new perspective and passionate energy to the Not In Our Town movement," said TWG NIOT Founder Patrice O'Neill.* "We are thrilled to welcome him and look forward to his influence on the organization."
Leffall has authored two books: "Brother CEO: A Business Success Guide for African American Men" and "Living from Within: Getting to the Heart of True Happiness, Self-Acceptance and Peace." In his spare time Leffall enjoys weight training and reading.
The vision Leffall brings to NIOT, "is to continue to elevate the impact of our work to stop hate, address bullying, and build safe, inclusive communities for all."
* O'Neill will continue to help lead program and media as Executive Producer for NIOT.
