In our class we do our work daily to intervene on the yard, in the halls and in our lives to stop hate from being cultivated.
We planned, spur of the moment, a gathering in response to the arson fire at our local mosque; word was passed via Facebook. Just under 60 people showed up, though the newspaper said under 50, but we counted too:-)
Here is a summary of what we discussed and have planned:
After an arson fire at our local mosque on Sunday morning, so many of us feel a response is necessary. If one of our citizens is a target, or if a religious group becomes a target, it's as if we all are targets of this hatred and rage. Faith groups are planning responses, an interfaith group is planning a response, and a growing group of individuals is meeting tonight to discuss how we can effectively respond as well as to find ways to stand with our Muslim friends and neighbors.
