On Thursday, March 29, the City of Claremont’s Teen Committee partnered with Claremont’s Committee on Human Relations to host a screening of Not In Our Town: Manhattan Beach, a movie about an African-American family who were the victims of a hate crime.
Along with the screening attendees participated in a productive discussion for students about creating not only a safe space, but also a brave space to speak about inclusivity and self-care within our community.

A special thank you to Claremont Councilmember Joe Lyons and Community and Human Services Commission Vice Chair Jed Leano for attending and being part of the crucial dialogue with the students in attendance. The event was a great opportunity for students to speak about gun control and safety in our schools. There was a very healthy dialogue between students and their representatives on how we can work together to keep our community safe and secure.
Along with the workshop were a yummy mix of food with choices of a taco bar or chicken bowls to enjoy!
