Recent reports about conflict over the health care plan and attacks on President Obama are creating an alarming picture:
- A swastika was painted on Georgia Democratic Rep. David Scott’s office.
- In Portsmouth, New Hampshire, a man with a gun stood outside an Obama town hall meeting with a sign that read: “Time to water the tree of liberty.” The quote references a phrase from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson: “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” (Watch video.)
- ABC’s Brian Ross issued a report on the recent hate incidents and the rise in militia activity cited by Southern Poverty Law Center.
- Here is an example from the Town Hall protesters’ playbook: Rev. Ted Pike of the National Prayer Network urges protesters to shout down Congress members about the hate crime legislation.
There are many more reports like this.
“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
