North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth is observing Not in Our Town’s (NIOT) most recent initiative called “United Against Hate Week” from November 11 to 18 by supplying several Little Free Libraries in Town with a collection of books with themes of tolerance, diversity and inclusion. The books were purchased with private funds from the Supervisor.

"The objective of SMC’s NOOC campaign is to reinforce the values for which we stand as an institution . . . the values of diversity and inclusivity that leave no room for hate against any member of the college community based on actual or perceived race, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, gender or immigration status, among other things."

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced a new Department of Justice Hate Crimes website in Washington, D.C this week. The aim of the website, launched Monday, is to consolidate resources in one place to aid in the prevention, reporting and prosecuting of hate crimes.

The hate attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue has shaken our country. Not In Our Town joins the Jewish community to mourn for the victims and condemn this violence and hatred. NIOT shares photos and posts from vigils in cities across the U.S.

San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón introduces “Light in the Darkness” at the SF screening and community discussion earlier this month.   With incidents of hate crime on the rise, communities all over America are searching for ways to address it. The Bay Area is not immune to hate crime, and that brought local officials and activists together in San Francisco for a community screening of a documentary about how another town fought back.
