A diary of NIOT board member Frank Duke's journey to deliver soil from the place where John Henry James, a Charlottesville resident who was murdered by lynching 120 years ago to Montgomery, Alabama, where the Equal Justice Initiative collects jars of dirt from 4,400 documented lynchings, mostly in the South. "We will learn, we will fight against ever denying anyone their dignity, their being, their life, their name, because of the color of their skin."

Sad news out of Marshalltown, IA, today after a tornado hit the town on Thursday. Miraculously, no one was hurt, but the downtown area was "devastated" after what was described as a "catastrophic tornado."

In order to save his town from a group of white supremacists threatening to take over the city council, Mayor Ryan Schock has moved to dissolve the town of Leith. "Nobody can take over the city government without a government," he told the Bismarck Tribune.
