Human rights organizations are hoping to build on the momentum of a recent resolution approved by the Whitefish City Council in Montana, which declared the city’s intention “to take a stance in support of diversity, inclusion of free speech, and freedom of assembly… and condemn ideologies, philosophies, and movements that deny a quality of human rights and opportunities,” as reported by the Whitefish Pilot.

Not In Our School: Strategies to Address Bullying and Intolerance by Creating Safe, Inclusive, and Accepting Schools, a 2-unit online course offered through the University of San Diego, gives educators and administrators tools for preventing and addressing bullying, and supporting a positive, identity-safe school climate.

An incredible piece of mail surprised Oak Creek Mayor Steve Scaffidi in the fall of 2012: a box of one thousand miniature paper cranes in assorted colors. They were sent from Norwood Junior High School as a show of support and compassion for the victims and town of Oak Creek, WI after the town was rocked by a shooting at the Oak Creek Sikh Temple.
