Peace
Working for young people who have often times been victims of violence, I feel that their lives would be positively impacted by seeing how hate doesn't always win.
Film: Not In our Town
I have very much appreciated how Teaching Tolerance has enriched my classroom -- I think that this film would continue to bring home to my students the importance of practicing non-violence in our own lives. It is a living tool.
A positive learning environment
Because my class is a reading class, I have students from varias levels of skill. In order for students to work together and discuss current issues, our classroom needs a positive environment. Demonstrating to students the effects of hate is a great motivator to do better and treat each other better.
